Addressing the needs of assessments

Updated: Jan 27, 2021

One of the great difficulties with delivering tests globally is the huge variation of candidate experiences. And in some areas, the trustworthiness of the test site. This issue is often countered by assessments by utilising highly trusted British Council sites which can end up being a huge distance from where the candidates are based and very expensive.

Intac’s founder and director, Alastair Montgomery launched UKiset back in 2014 and accrediting test sites worldwide became an ongoing operational challenge. In fact, mitigating the risks associated with test delivery became an increasing concern as UKiset grew in stature.

Alastair says “I began to realise that if we could improve the test centre accreditation process and invest time in finding the best partners to work with, then reaching a larger audience would be significantly easier… and safer.”

“Finding a place to administer assessments wasn’t difficult, but ensuring high professional standards, mitigating security risks and holding test centres to account was more challenging.”

At Intac, we know that assessments have found their own solutions to these problems. Often, willingness from academic agents to run tests has always been high, but there is a conflict of interest in positive outcomes for their own clients. That said, most agents are wholly trustworthy, but there are questions over what factors permit one agency over another to take on this role. This potential risk is then managed by each assessment user (schools in most cases) and thus a wholly inconsistent method of mitigating exposure to your content and IP is taking place all over the world. Schools can always use another test, but not before they potentially cause expensive and irretrievable damage to yours. As places at top schools becomes more competitive, there are increased risks of those willing to game the system, and do whatever it takes to achieve a specific score.

This is exactly why Intac was created; to take away the need to risk manage where your tests are administered, and help the best test centres deliver their services to a wider audience.
